20/11/08: Antipodium

Hi ladies how are we all? Summer is still trickling through the door, we have just received Antipodium's final drop - the one you've all been waiting for (and calling us about!) - a very Chloe Sevigny-inspired collection with lots of florals and black in grown-up pieces such as bustier's - the new must have piece for the season. There's been lots of editorial on these pieces, girls so get in quick!

1/11/08: Don't Feel So Lonely..

Hello hello its getting hot in here! It's been a busy few weeks here at PD and we are LOVING the new Lonely Hearts Club drop! Everyone's favourite black lace dress with the exposed front zipper is back due to popular demand - but only in limited numbers! Also in is a black lace zippered skirt with a hot orange accent slip underneath.. There are nude and cream lace tank dresses with removable ruffles, petrol coloured cotton dresses and some cheeky mesh stockings with cut-out detailing at the thighs and my favourite grunge-chic must-have of the season: a purple plaid skirt. HOT.

Some new pieces from Kate Sylvester include some surprisingly sophisticated snakeskin-print shirtdresses and tunics, while Thurley's latest offering includes silk and lace numbers and 60s shifts with silver panel detailing or beading - perfect for the upcoming party season..

Lover have dropped their liberty print Ruffle Mini dress and blouse as well as the skinny blazer... gorgeous as always.

And finally, Romance Was Born have dropped a few more of their absolutely beautiful, Marrakech-inspired dresses with their signature Kathryn Del Barton prints panelled into each garment..

16/09/08: So much sun and so much fun!

This week Pretty Dog has found ourselves abuzz with delicious new bags from Lollapalooza in the most fabulous patent pop colours like lime or jungle green, deep lavender and in cute styles in classic shapes or with quirky details like tassles and gathered panels.. cute! We also have a (small) new drop of sculptural summer sandals in both practical and quirky colours to suit every occasion..

7/09/08: September Is The Best Month For Shoes!

Allo allo, we have just received our drop of Tristan Blair Spring/Summer '08! Anyone who has spoken to any of us girls instore will know how obsessed we all are with Mr Blair's creations as they are ever so sexy and oh so comfortable! Patent black has been a favourite fabrication of choice as well as beautiful natural browns and peach tans in styles such as gladiator sandals, woven flat sandals, fringed and studded heels (a personal favourite), flat and heeled brogues (in both patent black and patent cream) all with the signature style and edge that TB always delivers. Sigh.

Also instore, Lovers first (small!) drop - the Gloria dress in daisy chain print and the Disciple long sleeve dress as well - but we dont have many left at all!

Finally, we have a bit more Karen Walker, a new Laurence Pasquier drop, some gorgeous Skin and Threads and some French Soles in the sweetest colour combinations, many of which are exclusive to Pretty Dog..

18/8/08: Put Spring in Your Step!

Oh. My. God. For those of you who have been instore over the past few weeks, you'll know how manic we've been at PD with all our new things - and its just going to get better! This week we have received Future Classics (floral lace tights in black or biege anyone?), Karen Walker 2nd Summer, (just as hot as the first and guaranteed to walk out the door as quickly,) some key pieces and quirky jewellery from Deb Sweeney, Therese Rawsthorne's fabulously wearable collection, (check out her runway show @ HarpersBazaar.com.au) the fun and floral first drop from Maise and our first ever delivery from our new label Raben Salone in beautiful, crinkly, unstructured dresses for effortless and comfortable everyday wear.

Firstly, Malene Birger has just dropped some of the most beautiful vintage-style maxi dresses and summer-style dresses that still look as stunning layered up for the colder months ahead.. Hi ladies, hope your Friday the thirteenth wasn't too freaky! These are every bit as stunning as you would imagine, made from a silk-cotton blend from the Black Magick collection.

18/05/08: Quick Note!

Hello hello hope you're all well! Just a quick update to let you know we have recieved our 2nd drop of Mike and Chris - absolutely stunning! We recieved the Eames jacket in pale grey which is simply divine and in the softest lambskin. Also in are some very cute frocks, great for layering in the chill as well as some of the signature Mike and Chris tailoring in heavyweight jersey mini-trenchcoats. Also, it looks like Spring's already here (not really!) with a very small taste of Karen Walker's new 'Angels' collection for the upcoming season. We've received a brand new piece of stunning sterling silver jewellery in quirky Karen style of a chunky fighter plane - she really knows how to walk the line between femininity and masculine edge - hot!!!!

11/05/08: More New Things!
Hey ladies, we've just recieved our first drop ever of Malene Birger! This includes a canvas and patent black leather ankle boot, buttery soft everyday bags in natural black and natural tan leathers, dresses in 60s-inspired bold prints with ruffled panels and also tuxedo waistcoats. The quality of her fabrication and construction is flawless..
Also in is our favourite quirky brand Dot and Herby - who've just dropped in a va-va-voom silk satin smocky dress in femme fatale red with bell sleeves! Gorgeous!
Lastly, tie a string around your finger so you dont forget - the Deadly Ponies bow rings are here in silver and gold - as featured in Russh amongst other publications. These are a steal at $144 for the silver and $189 for the gold so get in quick..

6/05/08: Tanya's RAFW Roundup
Well, I've done it again - another week jam packed with parades, showings and schmoozing!
I have to say, Tina Kalivas (see vogue.co.uk for a write up) was the most inspiring collection I have ever seen! She has absolutely outdone herself!
Romance Was Born stole the show! Held in the Conservatorium of Music, which lent a sense of the theatric to the proceedings, the presentation of the collection and the runway revolved around a performance of a tale of Hindu mythology and matrimony. The show was so emotionally charged that the design duo of Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales recieved a standing ovation for their efforts.
Other highlights included 2 new additions to the RAFW schedule - firstly, Antipodium, a short and sweet affair with a showing time of only a few short minutes but of a strong collection of their usual mix of feminine edge - lots of Sevigny-style floral prints and sheer fabrics. The other RAFW baby was Therese Rawsthorne - what a gorgeous collection! Classic TR with sculptural ruffles and easy to wear shapes and layering for a laid-back cool.
And despite the controversy - Kate Sylvester - HOT! Even with the medal scandal - what bullshit! - it's FASHION!
Cohen et Sabine didnt disappoint with their very soft, feminine and pretty collection - but there was a little bit of rock and roll in the bejewelled mini! And... *drumroll*... I was so blown away with the Yeojin Bae and TV collectons that I'm proud to announce their addition to our label family for S/S '08! More on those two labels to come...
My favourite showing for the week was a draw between Lover's 'Love Bomb' (cute!), Lonely Hearts Club and Cybele. Lover are doing what we all love best: ruffles, lace and pintucks with floaty dresses, liberty prints and leather pieces. Lonely Hearts absolutely blew my mind - so incredibly dark and edgy and effortless all at the same time! Everything is slashed up or fraying - the collection's muse is everyones favourite 90s It-girl, ingenue - Winona Ryder.
And finally is Cybele. classic Cybele silhouettes and shapes with fresh and breathtaking colour palettes, prints and dip-dyes. We heart NZ designers!
So girls, start saving, Spring/Summer 2008 is going to blow you away!

26/04/08: Introducing Cybèle
We're thrilled to have recieved our first drop of New Zealand label Cybèle - c'est très belle! Each garment is hand-printed in Cybèle's exclusive bird's tail and feather-inspired prints so that no two are the same. We've all been loving the simple cuts and chic colour palette.

And after much (excited) anticipation - Lover's 2nd drop of Electric Ladylike.. We've just recieved:
- Ginsberg Tuxedo Blazer in Birdseye wool
- Ginsberg Double Breasted Jacket in Black
- Ginsberg Drawsting Pants in Birdseye wool
- Ginsberg Shorts in Birdseye wool
- Ginsberg Double-Waisted pantsin Black
- Angel's Leather Dress (divine!)
Also recieved are some of the most adorable new additions to our Karen Walker jewellery cabinet I have ever seen - the rest of the Robot Family! This not only included Man and Woman robots, Boy and Girl robots but now - Baby robot, Budgie robot and Dog and Cat robots! These are absolutely gorgeous and all made of the high quality sterling silver that we are so used to from Miss Walker. They look great in multiples too!
And last but never least are a range of quirky but still classic leather wallets from Belinda Pieris which always seem to run out the door as quickly as they came in! This season, Belinda has continued using pop-colour embroidery on more tonal leathers as well as using appliqué and quirky stitching detail on her wallets and pouches.

20/4/08: Too Much To Shoes From!
Sooooo many shoes! The long, long awaited Tristan Blair's have come in - leather ankle boots with a zip and three buckles (yes, the one you've all seen in Marie Claire and Madison!), a pair of very sexy knee-high boots with patent black detailing, a pair of man-eater style, lace-up heels with buckles and a peep-toe, as well as gorgeous black lace-up shoe boots with a slight platform, also with matte and patent black leather contrast details. These also come in a subtle gold.

Next on the list are the va-va-voom! knee high boots from Natasha - these come in plain black and plain tan with the perfect mid-heel. Made with love in Australia!

Yet another drop of classic Valerie Tolosa - her signature full cream lace dresses in long sleeve with opaque cuffs and our first taste of her new season floral printed dresses with plain placket,collar and cuff feature.

And just in time for the big chill - Skin and Threads introduced itself to Pretty Dog in the form of gorgeous knits and knit dresses in 100% wools and cotton yarns in black, cream, the palest mauve, beige and teals - they're the perfect fit and are cut extra long so you dont have to keep pulling them down!

11/4/08: Come join the Lonely French Sretsis Club!
Where do I even begin??? We have one of our best drops yet with new Lonely Hearts Club dresses in autumn coloured plaids with the most supple lambskin detailing and extra long zips running asymetrically down the body as well as black denim pinafore-style dresses with pyramid-stud detailing - so rock and roll. Also in is the long-awaited Sretsis drop! Stunning drop-waist and collared dresses in bright colours, knitted mini-vests and shirting with cute polka dot detail as well as prom-style, strapless and criss-cross strapped dresses. Even Rachel Bilson was spotted wearing one of the collections creations! And last, but by no means least are our latest French Soles in velveteen lace, metallic quilting, silver glitter, the most perfect leopard print and jungle green ostrich leather!!! Many of our styles are exclusive to Pretty Dog and are in limited runs so you wont see them anywhere else!

7/4/08: Tina and Kate and Therese - oh my!
Hope you all had a lovely sleep in on Sunday with daylight savings! But while you were all snoozing we recieved lovely new Tina Kalivas! - Sash dresses in silver, babydoll dresses in gold, tank dresses in metallic black and her signature "hex" dress for the season in an exlusive-to-Tina-K print. Miss Kalivas has been spending a bit of time doing some costume designing for a Japanese film and has allowed her film work to spill into her collection and the result is truly beautiful. Very edgy and directional with sculptural high waisted skirts. Dedicated Tina fans will not be disappointed!
Also in is more of the lovely Kate Sylvester's snug knit dresses with tortoise-shell button detailing and the sweetest turtleneck with built in gloves attatched to the sleeves!
Therese Rawsthorne (formerly Youth World) has just dropped in some more beautiful tee shirt dresses in ivory and black with contrast, oversized silk bows that look so chic...
And last but not least.......another new label!! We're proud to announce the arrival of new label VANGUARD into the shop! Very well priced extra long cardis, oversized tee shirts and reversible hooded vests in fun prints to keep you rugged up through the bitter cold!

26/03/08: Introducing Vanessa DaSilva
Yay it has finally arrived! Our new buzz-brand Vanessa DaSilva has dropped her first shipment of beautiful smocks and oversized t-shirt dresses with low-cut backs, peep-hole sleeves and plaiting detail.. each dress features painterly illustrations by Vanessa herself (who has also done album-cover artwork for bands such as Tuung) and are in limited numbers so race in quick to accquaint yourself with Miss DaSilva!
Also, the classically decontstructed, effortless pieces from Therese Rawsthorne have already arrived in styles such as the Manta Ray dress and gorgeous bow blouses among other things and are going..going..!!! In addition to this, our new Kathryn Wilson sneakers in silver and black leather high-tops and more classic sneaker styles with quirky colour and pattern choices. Great to work back with your floaty dresses before the chill sets in and even better with your leathers and leggings for after..

16/03/08: Overflowing!
Wow! Shoe boots from New Zealand, bags from Argentina and robots from the future!! Pretty Dog's searched the far reaches of the universe to bring you the best! We have the baby boy and baby girl robots from Karen Walker's robot family (basically a mini version of the originals - soooo sweet!), the most supple leather bags in satchel-styles and handbags from Lollapalooza in pop colours like purple and blue but also in mock-croc with metal panelling, black and worn chocolate.. Cohen et Sabine have delivered the most breathtaking hand-stitched leather sequinned dress - yes, thats cream sequins made out of leather! Beautiful - we only have two of those bad boys in stock as well as a few of their signature-style military jackets and coats.. Our new favourite label Thurley has popped in and almost completely sold out within days - we still have some gorgeous dresses with lace inserts and contrast lace detailing. More Mike+Chris (also almost sold out) including the most GORGEOUS metallic pewter bag, so practical - fits your laptop! Last but certainly not least on the list is the sexiest shoe boots I've ever seen by Natasha, these babies have been flying off the racks (much like everything else in the shop) - they're old school lace-ups with the hottest most comfortable heel - have to be tried to be believed!
Anyway, you girls sure love keeping us on our toes - we've been so busy with all the beautiful new stock but it's great to see you love it!! We also just recieved our 2nd drop of our new label Maise - gorgeous!!! Canary yellow silk skirts, white pussy-bow blouses and a very metallic black leather-look puff sleeve dress..
It is literally flying off the racks this weekend so you must get in quick!!!

19/2/08: Mike & Chris and that and this
Winter is already here! We recieved our first Mike and Chris drop last week and it is lovely! Sweet plaid smock dresses, the most slimming high waisted trousers I have EVER seen and the most breathtaking, supple leather hoodies (which have already sold out but call the shop to put your name down for ones to come)..
Also in store, the softest 100% cashmere cardi's from Jac+Jack have arrived - as soft as kitten fur! :) Beautiful basics in greys, tans and black.
And the one everyone's been waiting for - Karen Walker Autumn/Winter 08 has JUST dropped. It will be on the floor as of tomorrow (that's Wednesday) and our first delivery includes leather belts in metallic and classic colours, knitted caps and scarves, jersey, cotton and silk dresses in delightful prints and the most divine blazer in a chocolate/plum tweed.
